Ronaldo could not play for Real Madrid in the group stage matches of Champion’s League against Milan as he was on international duty with Hungary and Portugal. A match against Almeria on December 6th witnessed Ronaldo being carded and sent off for taking his jersey off and kicking a player from the other side a few times. At the same time in the year 2009 he was the first runner up in FIFA World Player of the Year. Ronaldo scored maiden hat-trick with Real in a match against Mallorca.
Ronaldo in partnership with Gonzalo Higuain went down to becoming the highest scoring duo of Real Madrid where they scored 53 league goals in that season. In the summer of 2010 after the exit of Raul, Ronaldo was given the jersey number 7.
The highest number of goals ever scored in a single match by Ronaldo was 4 goals in October 23, 2010 in a match against Racing De Santander. He also scored his second and third hat-trick in the same year.

Just sometime back Cristiano Ronaldo declared that he was the happiest when he played for Manchester United. According to him his six year old stint with the world’s most biggest and famous club has been very fulfilling and exciting.
Earlier this season Ronaldo also expressed his dissatisfaction and sadness about playing in Real Madrid. Post that comment there have been speculations that there are 2 European clubs Manchester City & Paris Saint-Germain that are more than willing to make a very lucrative offer to get the footballer playing for their team. There also have been rumours about Ronaldo returning to his favourite united Manchester club.
Recently in a match against a local Spanish club Osasuna, Real Madrid scored nil, the match was drawn at 0-0. This only went to show that Ronaldo’s absence meant the team losing out on winning opportunities.
There is an immense pressure on real Madrid in relation to the renewal of contract with Ronaldo. Ever since the negotiations hit the brick wall last summer, Real Madrid has been getting constant reminders and messages from Spanish media to renew Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract immediately.
There have been apprehensions amongst the fans of Real Madrid that Florentino Perez the president of the club instead of accepting Ronaldo’s agent’s renewal terms would be coaxed into giving away Ronaldo much before his contract’s expiration in 2015.
Currently Madrid pays €18 million every season for the renewal where Ronaldo’s net earning is €12 million, the total cost is higher as the club also pays a part of the player’s taxes. Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent has recommended €15 million for the renewal of the new contract which is quite an acceptable amount to both the parties, however Real Madrid is facing a bigger challenge in terms of accommodating the elevated tax burden where the total cost is running up to €30 million, an amount that is keeping the president of Real Madrid Florentino Perez in renewing the contract.
However; as far as Cristiano Ronaldo is concerned, he has put all these speculations to rest by insisting on staying on with Real Madrid till his contract expires in 2015. “I want to see out my contract at Real Madrid. I’m very clear about that,” he said in an interview posted on FIFA website. “After that, well, I don’t know what will happen in the future.”
He also mentioned to a newspaper in Spain (AS) that he is only bothered about the team and he swore on his son stating that his unhappiness with the club was nothing to do with the money. When asked about the renewal terms, he refrained from commenting further.
