Early and Personal Life of Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic, after becoming the world No.1 player to win three consecutive Australian Open titles in a row. “Since the childhood, I was always dreaming about playing tennis at the highest level. I wanted to be the best.” said top ranking player of the open era Tennis world.

He was born on 22 May 1987, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, in a middle-class family. Noval Djokovic’s parents were running food center and lived with his two younger brothers in Mount Kopaonik located in the central part of Serbia.  Djokovic loves learning languages and already knows German, Italian along with English and his native Serbian language. After Monica Sales, he is the country’s most talented tennis player. He started playing tennis at the age of six years. He was spotted while playing tennis by the tennis legend of Yugoslavia- Jelena Genecic. First time when she saw him, playing tennis on the court with other young players she was impressed with his actions and his skills. She found in him the skills to be the most talented player after Monika Sales. It was amazing on the part of Jelena to start training Djokovic for the next 6 years. He then developed and polished his tennis skills in a tennis academy at Germany at the Jelena’s request, spending next four years.

Djokovic started his international tennis career at the age of 14 years, when he won the Europiean championship in all the forms – singles, doubles and also as a member of the winning team. That was his first step in international arena of tennis. He went on to become most successful tennis player ranking at the top.

He is not only a player of highest caliber but an actor who entertains the spectators with his humor and imitating skills. There are instances where he is found amusing the crowd with his actions or with his speech and he has earned a special place in the hearts of his fans who often call him “Djoker”.

He is a person who is committed for peace and harmony. Being a member of the international organization ‘Champions for Peace’, he is helping to spread the message of peace in the entire world.  Djokovic is orthodox Christian, who has offered assistance to the Serbian people and to the churches.  His services to the country were recognized with the highest award ‘Order of St. Sava I class’ by the Serbian Orthodox Church.

He always supports the Serbian Red Star football club Belgrade.  He always shows keen interest in watching the football matches. He is presently residing with his parents and two younger brothers in Monte Carlo.
