Novak Djokovic’s Becoming a Top-10 Player and First Final of Grand Slam

Djokivic with his amazing performance started scaling the highest peaks, match after match. It was his ability to perform and his sheer will power to hold himself up even in close defeats brought him to the glory of tennis world. The year 2007, began with winning the ATP Adelaide by defeating Chris Guccione in the finals. He lost to champion Roger Federer in straight sets in the Australian Open.  But he performed well in winning the masters series events held in Indiana Wells, California and in Key Biscayne, Florida where he was runner-up and champion respectively. He lost to Nadal to become runner-up and defeated Nadal to become champion.  It surely helped in getting higher ranks as he became one of the top 10 players in the Tennis world.

He participated in Davis cup, while playing for his country against Georgia, where he won against the George Chanturia of Georgia. He played on the clay court where he was defeated by David Ferrer. In the same year Djocovic reached the quarterfinals of International d’Italia tournament in Rome. In the French Open too he lost to champion Nadal in the first major semi-final.

During the Wimbledon, Djocovic had mixed feelings during the tournament. He won a five hour long quarterfinal match against Marco Baghdatis. But in the semifinals he had to retire hurt after an elbow injury after winning and losing a set each against Nadal.

Djokovic played a most brilliant match of his career when he won the master series, where he won the Rogers Cup in Montreal. In the quarterfinal he defeated world no 3 Andy Roddick, in the semi-finals he defeated in the world No. 2 Rafael Nadal and in the finals he defeated the world No.1Roger Federer. This was only the second time in the history of tennis, that a player had defeated three champions in a single tournament, since Boris Becker in 1994.

Djokovic won the title fifth time in the year 2007, when he won the BA-CA Tennis Trophy in Vienna. It looked as if Djokovic was going to become the rank 1 player in year 2007, but due to few defeats in the tournaments which he played he could not fulfill his dream of becoming rank one player. But he was considered to be the most favorite among his fans and spectators for his on-court imitations of other players which include Rafel Nadal, Maria Sharapova and few others.

This Serbian tennis star that was born in a middle class family in the year 1987 later stunned the world when he won the three major tournaments in 2011.
